What type or brand of keyboard and mouse are you using ? Can you try with another brand ? I'm asking these question because I'm facing similar issues at work. With recent HP keyboard and mouse. For the keyboard, kern.log shows: Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.358508] usb 3-1.6: New USB device found, idVendor=0424, idProduct=2514 Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.358510] usb 3-1.6: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0 Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.358785] hub 3-1.6:1.0: USB hub found Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.358888] hub 3-1.6:1.0: 4 ports detected Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.630117] usb 3-1.6.1: new low-speed USB device number 15 using ehci-pci Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.757673] usb 3-1.6.1: New USB device found, idVendor=03f0, idProduct=034a Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.757675] usb 3-1.6.1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.757677] usb 3-1.6.1: Product: HP Elite USB Keyboard Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.757678] usb 3-1.6.1: Manufacturer: Chicony Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.766609] input: Chicony HP Elite USB Keyboard as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.0/usb3/3-1/3-1.6/3-1.6.1/3-1.6.1:1.0/0003:03F0:034A.000B/input/input43 Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.822086] hid-generic 0003:03F0:034A.000B: input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.10 Keyboard [Chicony HP Elite USB Keyboard] on usb-0000:00:1a.0-1.6.1/input0 Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.831335] input: Chicony HP Elite USB Keyboard as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1a.0/usb3/3-1/3-1.6/3-1.6.1/3-1.6.1:1.1/0003:03F0:034A.000C/input/input44 Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.886060] hid-generic 0003:03F0:034A.000C: input,hidraw1: USB HID v1.10 Device [Chicony HP Elite USB Keyboard] on usb-0000:00:1a.0-1.6.1/input1 Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18989.957958] usb 3-1.6.2: new high-speed USB device number 16 using ehci-pci Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18990.050151] usb 3-1.6.2: New USB device found, idVendor=03f0, idProduct=2514 Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18990.050154] usb 3-1.6.2: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0 Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18990.050435] hub 3-1.6.2:1.0: USB hub found Jun 8 14:02:24 ylum kernel: [18990.050523] hub 3-1.6.2:1.0: 4 ports detected But I cannot use the keyboard. On the other hand, an old ps2 keyboard works fine. After a while (10 to 15 mns). the keyboard works I had similar issues before kernel 4.0. The keyboard was usable after 10-15 seconds (not minutes). The issue may be with evdev, but I have not yet figured out how this debug this.
