In some way Ubuntu is a sister (or a descendant -- that's what you get when you stretch analogies too much ;-) of Debian. Each one can (and actually has) received a lot from the other. There are maintainers which work on both distros. And -- IMHO there's no "Debian Way". My SO, for example is on Mate, uses synaptic. My "desktop" is Fvwm2, I use aptitude. I mount my USBs manually: I downright hate all that dbus, consolekit, polkit rat's nest. Both are Debian Ways. To each her own :-) Knowing the commonalities (and differences) helps a lot. regards - -- t -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAlVyscoACgkQBcgs9XrR2kb+bQCfSfA63hyk15jOClaBwLYSYo8r BdQAmwQ5HrZXHUF+opMSbGL9eVgvCIqp =rNp4 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
