Also, now that I have been told how to find the System Settings on the
Acer E5-521-238Q, as they are accessed differently from the way on the
Acer V3-772G, both with the GNOME Classic interface, on the Acer
E5-521-238Q, in
System Settings -> System -> Details

1. The Overview shows

"GNOME Version 3.4.2"

and

"
Processor: AMD E2-6110 APU with AMD Radeon R2 Graphics x 4
Graphics: VESA-GODAVARI
"

and

2. Graphics shows

"
Driver: VESA-GODAVARI
Experience: Fallback
"

And, in
System Settings ->Hardware -> Displays

It shows only "Unknown" (- the laptop screen)

and

<Detect Displays>

as with the Acer V3-772G, fails to detect the external monitor, the
external monitor being connected and powered up, before powering up
each respective laptop.
