Not sure if you're looking for cli or ncurses. I always just do: nmcli dev wifi # list APs) nmcli con "<essid>" password "<password>"
That assumes networkmanager - I'm sure installer probably uses iwlist <dev> scan and then either iwconfig or wpa_supplicant/wpa_passphrase though.
