[snip] You might want to check the permissions on /var/tmp especially /var/tmp/kdecache* Also check if there is enough room in that directory. At least 700MB should be free - better a lot more. I tried a similar setup to yours. It works on my installation of KDE 4.14.x So that is all that came to my mind right now.
