It also installs the dependency libosmesa6, so it may be the combination of the two that removes all the above. All this arises because all 3d-accelerated programs now complain "libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast" when loading, and some (e.g. supertuxkart) fail to run at all after the last time I upgraded Wheezy.
