Since this hasn't been shown yet,
python -c 'print "*"*80'
If you wanted to, you could create a program that simply outputs
repeating text, and then invoke that from your shell script.
Naturally if you go to the effort of making a program it should be
about as flexible as 'cut' or something :-).
