Update on that: I was looking at /usr/doc/exim on a system that had exim installed but didn't have exim-doc installed, so the file spec.txt was missing. After a look at that file, I've changed exim.conf to have these two lines instead of the "file =" line in the local_delivery section: maildir_format directory = /home/${local_part}/Maildir It doesn't work, now I can't find my messages at all.
