well... if mrtg produces any output, it *will* be e-mailed as per normal cron output. AND it will be appended to /var/log/mrtg/mrtg.log... PS: If you want to take advantage of syslog here (and the standard log rotation) it is relatively simple: use logger - e.g.: something | something | logger --tag "davids-mrtg" > To clarify the above is not the whole line from the file under /etc/cron.d/. But it's easy to send stuff via syslog as noted above. Then you don't have to bother about maintaining the log files, and can also log to a centralised server etc etc. All the normal syslog stuff.
