So I tried this, and SUCCESS. Problem SOLVED. Pulseaudio no longer auto starts. strace to the rescue! :) > Surely there'd be a gui config for this somewhere... ? Surely? Not that I can find - not with pahwchooser etc etc. Now qjackctl is also not auto-starting jackd, must be some auto-client-start thing... may be another pulseaudio issue? It's definitely not friendly for testing... OK, on to other problems (like getting any audio output at all - but I'll start another thread if I need).
