It's much easier to browse a file with an editor, that looking at the full
replay,
especially with a long output.
Nevertheless, the "script" call with the -c flag is a good replacement to "xterm
-l "
In both cases, you have just to replace <CR> by <LF> to get a text file
perfectly
readable with any text editor.
