Slow updates (in Australia)

Are there any users here from Australia that are getting updates at very 
low speeds? It just took me 2 hours to download a 67MB update.

I'm currently building a SOE using Debian, and every time I muck it up I 
have to install an update over again. Its really frustrating having to 
wait 2 hours to update.

My ISP is TPG.
