Hi Carlos, > i'm having trouble updating my system to wheezy. > I'm testing on VMs with disposable emails, but not having good results:
I had a similar problem going from Evolution 3.0 -> 3.4. Oddly there was no such problem from 2.30 - > 3.0. Evolution's mail is stored in maildir format - whereas pre-3.4 it was stored as mbox (I think that's correct, but wouldn't swear on it). I had to export my emails in mbox format (in the window pane of one of your mailboxes/folders 'select all' and export as .mbox), and then you'll have a back up at least. Then upgrade evolution/Gnome to 3.4 and import your mail from the backups. Be warned, Evolution-and-mbox is now an unreliable mess, so in my opinion you'll do best to use the maildir format from now on. > downloaded mails are lost, if i have internet connection it tries to > download them again. Contacts, config and other info OK but emails are > missing. I seem to remember (it was over a year ago) that the 'missing emails' problem was cured by switching Evolution from mbox to maildir. The problems with 3.0 -> 3.4 was the last straw for me with Evolution and I've now returned to Mutt. As long as you export/backup your email with Evolution's export facility you should be okay.
