Hello,

I just finished installing Debian testing on a PowerMac G5. Everything
is pretty sweet, except that fonts are not rendered at all in X.org.

More specifically, the application windows show up properly, but the
places where text should be displayed are completely blank. The only
exception is xterm running with default settings, as in that case the
fixed font is properly displayed. Anything else, like running 'xterm
-fa Monospace' results in the same effect: a blank terminal window
with a cursor but no visible letters.

An example screenshot depicting the awesome window manager (note that
there is no text in the title bar), a couple of xterms with default
settings, an emacs window and a gvim window can be found here:

I was going to file a bug report, but because I cannot figure out what
component is at fault here, I'm sending this email instead. I'm
suspecting some big-endianness issue in Xft, FreeType or Fontconfig,
but I could be very wrong.

Any advice?

Thanks!
