I suspect you've "proved" the RAM working - though to be totally sure you'd have to test each stick individually. If you did test each individual stick, and you're not running an Intel GPU [*1] then the problem should be the OS. I'd test each individual stick, ensure firmware is updated, check BIOS settings (memory remap) and also try a 3.2x kernel?
