That uses kernel 3 and the gnome shell 3, which is very much like a MAC in appearance . I don't think that graphics card is capable of accelerated / 3 Mode, which is required for the gnome-shell 3 unfortunately. If I was in your position I would replace that graphics card for a Nvidia card that can support the needs of gnome-shell3.
