Reading the thread, it seems like you're getting various suggestions about packages and modules for this and hopefully they'll help. My laptop (Averatec 3250, running sid) sometimes behaves similarly and I can fix it by unloading and reloading the thermal module: # modprobe -r thermal # modprobe thermal Actually, my problem is usually that the fan stops coming on, and after a while the laptop gets hot. When I notice this I do the unload/reload to restart it. Doesn't happen often but has been happening for 5-6 years or so. More recently, like since a few months, I've also been having the problem you're having. Instead of the fan going off, it goes on full-speed for no reason. Sometimes it goes back to normal after a couple of seconds, other times I have to unload/reload thermal to bring it back to normal. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
