By default you will get the system locale setting that is configured in /etc/default/locale and configured by the 'locales' package. # dpkg-reconfigure locales Since this is configurable there is always the possibility of it being uniquely different upon any machine that has changed it. If you have READ_ENV="yes" (the default) set in /etc/default/cron then /etc/init.d/cron will read /etc/default/locale and get any LANG that is set there. Bob
