I'm not asking for help with this but the phenomenon is worth noting for forewarnment.
My Squeeze router has been running for weeks with restarting. Several squeeze-updates and security updates since the last restart. This morning I restarted after changing the mouse and found none of the USB-Ethernet adapters working. No problem with the mainboard adapter which is eth0. Replugging the USB-Ethernet adapters and starting Shorewall restored functionality. Were the USB_Ethernet devices not available when udev tried renaming at startup? This appears to happen with USB-audio devices at some startups. It's the first instance I've seen of a problem with the USB-Ethernet adapters. I can turn up debugging output from udev and look at another restart. A task for the New Year if need be. Regards, ... Peter E. -- Telephone 1 360 639 0202.
