4.8 includes a lot of modernisation (udev, GIO, PolicyKit and ConsoleKit) to bring Xfce up to modern desktop framework standards - but AFAIK not pulseaudio (yet). task-xfce-desktop, (or the meta package xfce4), don't install pulseaudio...
