For some reason X app.s in full mode do not cover whole the screen - but just bigger part of it than in window mode. I have xorg.conf and I did not change it for a while, having no problem w/ full screen mode. Also I have installed only the drivers I need for my video card - therefore w/o conf. file X fails starting. I use external monitor of laptop.
