Thanks Ackk I was searching for a misspelled *statoveride* (one too few `r'). And finally I've gotten rid of that junk. removing a line from /var/lib/dpkg/statoverride: `backuppc www-data 4750 /usr/lib/backuppc/cgi-bin/index.cgi' Finally allowed `aptitude purge backuppc' to do its work.
