JFYI, the equivalent of rpm is dpkg, not apt, and it does have the switch you are looking for if you look in the manpage, BUT overriding dependencies is a bad idea unless you know exactly what you are doing. In this case I will also second Sven's suggestions to wait it out, which is what I will do as well.
