So I load up Audacity while copying some audio files, in order to have it
ready when it's time to process them.

And in htop, I notice that even minutes after being loaded, Audacity is
using substantial CPU (6-11%, varying every refresh cycle of htop), even
though no files are loaded and it isn't doing anything.

Anyone have a guess about why? Or what it's doing?

Debian Wheezy. CPU is an AMD Turion.
