I'd mistakenly assumed (and made an ass of you and me) that you were running Debian.... you'll need to do:- $ apt-cache search multimedia-amd64 | grep linux-image to choose the appropriate image to install. >> # apt-get --no-install-recommends >> linux-image-3.0.0-1-whatever_your_architecture >> NOTE modification to line below I'd suggest you run this first:- # apt-get -s --no-install-recommends install kernel-image-you-choose-to-install > /root/kernel-3_upgrade >> >> >> That will give you a list of changes for future reference. > > I must have got the syntax wrong as I get :- invalid operation > linux-image-3.0.0-1-amd64 No - I left the "install" parameter out.... >> >> Ralf Mardorf will surely have an opinion but he won't be back >> online until later this today (at earliest). >> >> Cheers >> >> > I also need to load the repo which the kernels are in, googling I > haven't found a comprehensive listing. I'll carry on looking. For your location it'd be:- deb http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/64studio.com/apt/ 64studio main (for /etc/apt/sources.list) http://apt.64studio.com/ (for a web browser) If you're just pulling the kernel from 64studio and the rest from Debian you could run into problems - possibly best to pull all from one or the other. 64studio != Debian (it's just built from it).
