Yes, freespacenotifier is for KDE. It has been developed my one member of the Debian Qt/KDE team AFAIR. There is kdf any KDE 3 and 4, but I do not now whether it can run in the systray and warn interactively. Well it can warn, but it seems you have to keep the window around. Well and then there is stuff you can put into the systray or other toolbars you place on the desktop that can at least visually warn about low disk space by showing it all the time.
