Thanks for the reference. I see one possible solution is to change the gtk-theme. I don't know how to do it. I am using gnome and have tried a different theme under 'Appearance' options in the menu but that did not make any difference. Somewhere I have seen that a reboot or two did solve the problem. I cannot reboot my computer now as it is busy with a task that will keep it busy for a few days. Will see then.
