Folk,
By examining the repositories, a user can learn whether a package
is in main or contrib or non-free. Is there any other way to find
the category of a package?

http://packages.debian.org/stable/net/ shows that 3270-common is
non-free but doesn't show the category of shorewall.

"dpkg -l shorewall" also doesn't show the category.

This was discussed here before.

Must be a while back.
