I don't have any 'rootfs' in the output of mount, instead I have this: /dev/sda6 on / type ext3 (rw,noatime,errors=remount-ro,commit=0) I have a feeling there's more to your setup that is missing here. Could you please post your complete /etc/fstab and full output of 'mount'?
