The virtualbox manager says Adapter 1: PCnet-FAST III (NAT) /etc/cups/printers.conf (see the original post) does say that the printer is shared. At the CUPS web interface (http://localhost:631/printers/LaserJet_5MP), though, the header says "Not Shared".
