What do you want to achieve? Cloning a filesystem that is in use always has some drawbacks, depending on the method. If you use LVM: use snapshots. You'll get a dirty filesystem that needs a fsck, but the result should be consistent. Otherwise, I would probably use rsync because it might save time if the copy is interrupted for some reason.
