You may have seen this from recently: http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2011/02/msg00396.html One day (I promise myself) I'll sort out the X start up process. But for the moment I'm perplexed by this: mv ~/.Xresources ~/.Xdefaults and then startx. What is in ~/.Xdefaults isn't picked up.
