It's a dependency thing, not sure if it'll go away later, or if it's due to a change in xorg package... xserver-xorg-core now is claimed to break xserver-xorg-input-7 and xserver-xorg-video-6. xserver-xorg depends upon xserver-xorg-core, so it can't be installed unless the former does. Most input and video drivers provide those virtual packages, so most drivers are broken by xserver-xorg-core at this moment.
