Mirroring a repository is one matter, and is fairly complicated. But if your need is simply to keep a set of CD/DVD images up to date, you really should be using jigdo (that is, jigdo-lite). Jigdo minimizes the load on the servers, and guarantees an accurate image. You can write a set of bash scripts to automate the jigdo process, and you even could run them via cron.
