If the reply is still relevant for the subject, it should not matter.

Time is relative. "Now" converts into "one year" very soon.

In a mailing list that has an archive search facility, having posts which 
provides additional -or complete- information about a problem can help 
future users looking on how to solve the same kind of trouble.
