it's the same with the same effect. you probably can get lucky if using some kind of tool to repair the partition table. I have been using ghost and partition magick. I bought recently a partition recovery tool for windows for about 45$. I don't know if there are easy and secure ways to restore the windows partitions resp. the table in linux.
