I should have mentioned in my previous post that I installed this xulrunner-1.9.1 upgrade keeping the changes I had made as described in the first post to this thread: creating the 1.9.1.system.conf file in a different directory from /etc/gre.d and then creating the variable MOZ_GRE_CONF to point to it. Although I did not try to install xulrunner-1.9.1 without these changes, I suspect that in order to install it these changes were necessary.
