Thanks for your reply Mental Patient ;-). I got the bugger working two nights ago - just didn't know it. I recompiled the kernel late wednesday night and when i rebooted i got a kernel panic, which i realised must've been because i didn't do a make clean before compilation. Anywayz yesterday i recompiled again and voila mousey's lights comes on at boot time... Don't ask me what i changed, but i think it's something to do with what you said, the proper things loaded at the proper times...
Just btw. I really think Debian kick's all other distro's asses. dpkg, apt-get, dselect are the coolest. After not knowing/remembering what was installed on redhat it's so nice to be able to see everything currently on the system.
