Mmmm, I'm not using mplayer for years :-) but the old trick was using "mms://" protocol for asx files, i.e.: mplayer 'mms://mfile.akamai.com/80871/live/reflector:20168.asx?bkup=20883&prop=n' Not sure if that is still valid, though...
