I have this working well using the 2.4.18bf24 kernel. However, it fails on both 2.4.20 and 2.4.21 kernels with the message unable to mount root fs. This is the case even when the later kernels are compiled with the same options as the working 2.4.18 kernel. A Google search reveals that there was a problem starting with 2.4.19 with the order of detection of IDE controllers, but using the ide=reverse option does not help. Any ideas welcome.
