The install (I believe) configures XF86Config, whereas the newest "X" looks for XF86Config-4. I had the same "problem" when I installed Debian this past weekend. This is what worked for me: mv /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 /etc/X11/XF86Config-4.orig cp /etc/X11/XF86Config /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 -- Greg Heilers SlackWare Linux user .....
