That's true, assuming no request otherwise. However, it is both accepted protocol and *polite* to acquiesce to such simple requests as including the original poster on a CC line. Multiple times in the mailing list documentation, the reader is told that simply requesting a CC is sufficient to receive replies. >How much effort is it to >subscribe, or to go to the archives?
