Have you changed you kernel recently? Or has been updated and not 
restarted the system? :-?

That message ("unknown symbol") sounds like:

a) Kernel was recomplied or changed and lacks some modules or the 
appropiate package that should provide those "kernel-symbol" was not 
installed (I'm coming from openSUSE, not sure how Debian handles this :-?)

b) Kernel was updated and the system has not been restarted yet
