Hi List

In my periodic attempts to fix my partner's Debian Etch KDE which opens OOo every time an USB stick is inserted instead of opening the folder I have set up a bare bones testing a/c on the same machine. The idea was to compare a vanilla KDE configuration with my wife's config and to see if there were any discernable differences. Nice plan except for this:
When I inserted the USB stick into the testing a/c the following message
popped up:
"A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this
message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected
message had interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" member "Mount"
error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.Hal")"
I thought that this may be permissions, so added the testing user to the
groups that are able to load removable drives, but that didn't fix the
problem.
Any further thoughts on how to do this please, so that I can continue
with the next step of trying to resolve the larger issue ... unless of
course, this in itself points to the same underlying problem?
Cheers for any thoughts.

AG
