Hi, if your data really are extremely important to you, it's usually possible to retrieve some of it, but it's a very long and complicated process. It's also expensive, as you'll probably want to rely on a specialist of data retrieving. If you can save the disk, and are willing to learn how to use data forensic tools by yourself, you might be able to retrieve some data with tools like the duo "sleuthkit" and "autopsy". Of course the results depends on how you "formatted" the drive, if it was a simple change of partition table you might recover most data, if it involved writing zeros or random data to the disk your chances are really slim...
