Ok, now I'm thinking about reserved block from filesystem is causing this issue to you. To verify this: # tune2fs -l /dev/hdb1 ... Reserved block count: xxxx Block size: yyyy is xxxx * yyyy == 1024*1024*1024 *(688 - 663) ??
