Jochen replied off-list and suggested I set the MTU to something like 1400. I tried that, as well as the default of 1500, and neither seemed to make any difference. In all cases long wikipedia articles usually either arrive truncated or timeout before completion. Also, in reply to another question from him, the link had actually been using an MTU of 552 previously.
