Afair raid 5 would "eat up" the disk you buy, i. e. you get so much disk space as (number_of_disks - 1) * diskspace, provided that the disks are all the same size. So if you get another 1 TB disk, you get two times the diskspace for the price of one disk, sort of, but you don't get any more disk space than you already have, sort of :) So it's up to you to think through the available options, including the potential use of LVM and hardware raid controllers, and to decide which one suits your needs best.
