Well, although NOT currently running, miro was listed as 'currently
running' in the Current Session tab. I removed it, and will hope that
on next login it doesn't start up again! Thanks for the pointer.

I too think it's the session; however, you might have to save the
session with Miro not running, or the Miro might come back with the next
Gnome login.
