I don't know your mouse but regarding buttons configuration you should
really give BTNX a try, it's working really well. You can grab the
sources and compile it (only 3 or 4 dependencies), make a .deb with
"checkinstall" as it may break from time to time after xorg updates, a
reinstall fixes it.

It has made it's way in Ubuntu, and users seems to be really happy with it.
